5th September Opening night for second session of the season. This will begin with a short EGM to ratify the GDPR wording to add to the constitution

A book of your choice – 5 minutes on any book you have read which has made an impact on you.

Closing date for summer competition: A One Act Play; 2-6 roles; 10 – 20 minutes acting time.

19th September Romantic author workshop with Carmen Reid.


3rd October Research and write about the ending of the First World War: e.g. The Armistice, The League of Nations, Commonwealth War Graves Commission, etc. Bring your piece of work with you – maximum of 750 words.


17th October Results of the one-act play competition. Steve Coomber will be adjudicating and will hopefully be able to attend to give his opinion on the pieces

Closing date of romantic short story competition – 1200 – 1800 words; Adjudicated by Carmen Reid

31st October Fun with editing(!)

14th November Readings and results of the romantic short story competition.

17th November

Celebrating 30 years of Elgin Writers – in the Gallery at Elgin Library.

Refreshments, memorabilia, book stall with anthologies and members work, Performance of winning one-act plays.

28th November AGM and Awards presented for the year’s competitions

EW will then visit the Camera Club’s exhibition. Members will choose a photo as a prompt for the winter writing competition.

12th December Christmas dinner/buffet
